MIAC Obtains Exclusive License to DecisionServ

By Sachit Kumar
Managing Director, Capital Markets Group

Times are certainly changing in the mortgage market and increased transparency and accuracy on valuation methodologies is in high demand.  In preparing for the refined world of mortgage asset management, MIAC has obtained the exclusive license to DecisionServ, a well known and respected MSR portfolio management software solution.  The team at MIAC is excited to be able to add this new product to its own MIAC Analytics suite of mortgage software solutions.  Perspectives was able to sit down with MIAC Managing Director Sachit Kumar to discuss MIAC’s new product offering and to provide readers with more details.

Q:  Simple question: Why DecisionServ?

DecisionServ is one of the oldest, most popular MSR valuation systems available.  It continues to have a loyal client base, particularly among clients with small MSR portfolios.  For these clients, DecisionServ allows them to adequately manage the risk and P&L reporting required for their portfolios without the additional support required to maintain a more robust model.  As the saying goes, if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it!

Q: How do you envision DecisionServ fitting into the MIAC Analytics family of products and services?

Clients that use DecisonServ should continue to use it if their current needs are satisfied by the software.  In the case where the client’s MSR portfolio has become more complex or has grown in size to where risk management plays a significant role, they should plan to migrate to the more advanced MIAC Analytics software solutions – DataRaptor, WinOAS and VAST / ALM.  Going forward, MIAC will have the benefit of offering an expanded line of portfolio management software.  DecisionServ will be an available solution for smaller MSR portfolios and the MIAC analytics suite will offer a complete management tool for the most complex portfolios and reporting demands.

Q:  Is there a new version of DecisionServ on the drawing board at MIAC?

We plan to release a version of DecisionServ in the third quarter of 2008 that is integrated with the latest version of the ADCO prepayment model 5.2.  This integration will enable a new level of automation that reduces the risk of input error and provides quick accessibility to complex prepay research that will sharpen the accuracy of portfolio valuation for clients using the ADCO prepayment model.

Q:  Will things change for current DecisionServ users and, if so, how?

MIAC is dedicated to providing DecisionServ clients with the same level of support that they have relied upon in the past.  Additionally, since MIAC is a leading provider of third party MSR valuations, DecisionServ clients will gain access to MIAC’s MSR valuation team to help them with valuations.
